In the year 1998 Antipolo has only two existing public secondary schools, Antipolo National High School (ANHS) and Maximo L. Gatlabayan Memorial National High School.
The rapid increase of population in the City triggered the city government to establish public secondary schools to ensure the youth of access to education.
MAXIMO L. GATLABAYAN MEMORIAL NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL- RIZZA EXTENSION was opened June of 2006 in its temporary location at Sitio Kaban with 90 students and 5 SEF teachers housed on a two-storey building with two classrooms at San Lakas Training Center. The TIC then was Francisco J. Gajilomo Jr.
In April 2010 MLGMNHS- RIZZA EXTENSION set its pillar in its new permanent site with three new buildings built through the initiative of our Governor Honorable Casimiro Jun Ynares III, Hon. Mayor Danilo O. Leyble and one from DPWH. Mr. Rodolfo Gonzales was the TIC of the school from year 2007 to 2012.
Now, the school has a total of four buildings, with covered court and a stage built last 2014 through the iniative of Mayor Jun Ynares. Mr.Nixon C. Maximo is currently the Head Teacher of the school.
